Three new housemates have entered the Big Brother 2010 house after being chosen by the existing housemates from six hopefuls. The newcomers, who arrived on Friday night, are Jo Butler, a 41-year-old make-up artist from Luton, professional boxer JJ Bird, 23, from London, and Laura McAdams, a 20-year-old sales assistant who hails from Stratford-upon-Avon. The trio entered the house after this week's eviction was cancelled, following the departure of two of the nominees. Caoimhe, who was up for eviction, left the house earlier in the week after saying she missed her boyfriend, while travel agent Keeley was carried from the house after fracturing her ankle during the Save and Replace task. The 30-year-old sustained the injury while trying to climb out of a giant bath dressed as a spider. Although it had been hoped she would be able to return to the house after undergoing surgery, the housemates were told on Friday to collect her belongings as she would not be coming back. The remaining housemates were given the task of choosing their replacements on Friday evening, when the six potential newcomers - who also included busker Joel, bar assistant Megan and graffiti artist Sam - were shown on a big screen. Their audition tapes were shown, in which they attempted to persuade the housemates why they should join them in the house. They also revealed who in the house they liked and who they would nominate. The housemates then had one minute to choose three of them. However the subsequent vote caused some friction when Josie became upset, after John James - who was announcing the results to Big Brother - indicated that Laura had been chosen. "What was I supposed to do?" he told her. "I had to go with the majority." However the trio received a warm welcome as they arrived in the house.
