Big Brother: Liam's in the money!
Big Brother newcomer Liam has been chosen by fellow housemates Carole, Seany and Jonathan to receive the £100,000 prize fund. The tree surgeon looked stunned as Carole informed the house that he would be receiving the money, and received hugs and congratulations from the others before bursting into tears. "You're the truest, strongest, best man we've got. You're a proper honest man. We all agreed in ten seconds," Jonathan told him. The housemates initially realised that something was up during the first live show on Wednesday evening, when Big Brother showed them the £100,000 prize money - meant for the series winner - sitting in the Diary Room. However they were left to speculate until the second live show at 9.30, when Carole, Jonathan and Seany were called into the Diary Room. The other housemates watched events on a giant plasma screen in the living-room as the trio were told they were this week's nominees for eviction. "Housemates, your luck is about to get even worse," Big Brother said. "In front of you is a case containing the Big Brother Prize Fund. Tonight just one housemate will receive this money - but it won't be any of you." They were then told that they would have to decide who would receive it - and took the news surprisingly calmly. "Cool," muttered Jonathan as the instructions began to sink in. They were then given one minute to decide, and went through several names - including Laura, Ziggy and Amanda - before deciding that they could all agree on Liam. Meanwhile, in the main house, hysteria broke out as the plasma screen was switched off just before the trio made their decision. Housemates remain unaware that the £100,000 that was given to Liam is not the £100,000 that the winner of Big Brother will eventually receive. However, only Gerry appeared to notice that the prize money had already been given away. "What happens now?" he asked.
