Sword-swallower Alex Magala and singer Wayne Woodward are the next two acts through to Saturday's grand final of Britain's Got Talent following Monday night's live semi-final.

Both acts will join 100 Voices of Gospel and mother and son singing duo, Mel and Jamie, who are already through from Sunday night's show.

As hosts Ant and Dec announced that Wayne would be going straight through on the public vote, it was then up to the judges to choose between daredevil Alex and contemporary dance duo Shannon & Peter.

David Walliams and Alesha Dixon both agreed they wanted to see something different and chose Alex, while Amanda Holden 'followed her heart' and picked Shannon & Peter. Simon Cowell said: "I have to give it to the person, who's prepared to risk their life" and chose Alex.

Earlier in the evening, cheeky chappie Wayne was a hit with all the judges as he performed the Frank Sinatra hit That's Life, with David saying: "It's like Frank Sinatra and Danny Dyer had a baby!"

Alex, meanwhile, appeared to have been left slightly freaked out by his own act, which involved sliding down a pole blindfolded towards several spinning drill bits.

Judge Simon was left uncharacteristically speechless by his act, telling Alex: “I want you to go through to the finals but then I’m dreading what you’re going to do next. I think you are certifiably mad but, at the same time, no one has risked their life more on this show in all the years I’ve done it and, for that, I have to congratulate you. Why are you doing this?”

Later, talking to Ant and Dec about what he had planned for the final, Alex joked: "It's gonna be a surprise, even for me."
