BGT's Walliams to voice Pudsey in new film

David Walliams has landed a barking new role - voicing Pudsey the dancing dog.

The comic actor and Britain's Got Talent judge will lend his vocal talents to the canine in Pudsey: The Movie.

"I am thrilled to be providing the voice of Pudsey. I have been coming up with different voices for him ever since that first audition," joked the 42-year-old.

Pudsey won the ITV show in 2012 with trainer Ashleigh Butler.

David, whose sixth children's book Demon Dentist will be released this month, is no stranger to voicework, having played a character in The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian and the animated movie Justin And The Knights Of Valour.

Pudsey: The Movie, produced by Simon Cowell's Syco Entertainment, Vertigo Films and Roar Global, is a fictional family film starring the prize-winning dog.

Directed by Horrid Henry: The Movie's Nick Moore and written by Paul Rose, the film will star British actors including Jessica Hynes, John Sessions, Luke Neal, Izzy Meikle-Smith and Luke Tittensor.

"A heartwarming, quintessentially British adventure for all the family, Pudsey: The Movie follows cheeky London stray dog Pudsey who is quite happy being a lone ranger and looking out for number one until he meets siblings Molly (Meikle-Smith), George (Spike White) and Tommy (Malachy Knights)," the producers said.

"As Pudsey starts to settle in with the family and realise what he was missing when he was alone, he stumbles across landlord Mr Thorne and his cat Faustus' evil plan and he determines to save them and the whole village."

A six-week shoot started on September 1 in the south of England, with the film is set for release in May 2014.
