Britain's Got Talent hopeful Ryan O'Shaughnessy will appear in the live semi-finals of the show despite being told on Saturday night's edition that he would not be going through. Viewers saw the 19-year-old - who charmed both judges and public earlier in the series with a song he had written for a mystery woman - being cut from the line-up by Simon Cowell due to the fact he was under contract with the Irish version of The Voice. He was told by Cowell, "We have a bit of a problem...you're on another show which you're signed up to. "You signed a contract with another company so why did you come and audition for this show?" Ryan explained that he felt BGT was "a better opportunity for me" as it allowed him to showcase his songwriting skills but was told, "I'll be blunt with you, we were going to give you a yes but I can't. You understand that?" However it has since emerged that the teenager will feature in the semi-finals after being released from his contract with The Voice. Speaking on the show's official website Ryan said, "I want to thank the judges for giving me a second chance. The reveal was such an emotional ordeal for me, I was fraught with nerves. I felt as though I'd let Simon down. Simon's somebody you want to please, so it felt awful to disappoint him." The singer added he was working on "new material" for the semi-finals, although it was not revealed on which of the nights he would be competing.
