Simon Cowell has admitted it's a relief coming back to judge Britain's Got Talent, saying it's a much easier show to make than The X Factor.
Speaking to reporters on the red carpet at London's Dominion Theatre as auditions for this year's Britain's Got Talent rolled into town, Simon said: "I've got to tell you, it's a bloody sight easier to do this show than that show. For some reason we kind of slip under the radar a little bit on this one, it comes along and everyone's sort of happy that the show's back on. With X Factor, it's like releasing a horror movie."
As BGT marks its 10th anniversary this year, Simon said it would be cause for celebration. "It’s gone really quick this 10 years, I didn’t even know it was the anniversary until recently, it’s fantastic. So we’re going to celebrate that this year I think."
And Simon didn't seem at all worried, following the news that rival talent show The Voice would be moving to ITV next year. "That is not going to be a problem, trust me. I don't like that show. It's not doing well, they can put it wherever they want."
Teasing about what's to come from the BGT auditions this time round, Simon said: "I've seen a dog that might actually sing whereas I only thought I did last year. I think this dog actually can sing."
Simon still has yet to press his Golden Buzzer, which gives each judge, and hosts Ant and Dec the chance to send one act from the auditions straight through to the live shows.
When asked what kind of act would make him press his Golden Buzzer, Simon said: "Something I like. You kind of feel it in the moment and that’s the fun thing about doing it. Amanda’s pressed hers but once you’ve pressed it you kind of feel that you wish you hadn’t, so I might wait to the end."
Earlier in the day, Britain's Got More Talent host Stephen Mulhern told reporters that he was upset he didn't have a Golden Buzzer. But will the big boss give him one? "No!," said Simon, adding: "He can have a little mini one he can play with but he's not going to play on the big show."
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV in the spring.
