Casualty star Amanda Henderson reveals Robyn and Glen’s big day ends in disaster…

Fans of #Globyn are rooting for a happy ending in Casualty this week. Casualty’s cutest couple have been through the wringer – from Glen’s brain tumour diagnosis and his subsequence disappearance to Robyn’s terrifying labour with baby Charlotte, which nearly killed mother and baby. Yet Robyn and Glen have heroically overcome all manner of obstacles with warmth and good humour. But, this being Casualty, their happy-ever-after is short lived.

We talked to Casualty star Amanda Henderson, who reveals there’s more shocking tragedy to come!

Here Amanda reveals Robyn and Glen’s big day could be their last…

How is nurse Robyn Miller feeling on the morning of her wedding?

"Robyn’s excited. She’s about to marry the love of her life, hospital porter Glen Thomas. But there’s also the thought going round her head – I don’t know how long this is going to last. Glen’s brain tumour means they don’t know how long he’s got."

Glen (Owain Arthur) jilted Robyn at the altar once before. Is she worried he’ll jilt her again?

"Robyn does not want a repeat of that! She’s nervous because he left her last time and she wants a happy ending this time. The reason Glen left was because he didn’t want to see Robyn deal with his illness, but he didn’t realise how upset it would make her. This time, in Robyn’s head, she’s thinking Glen has years left…"

That morning, unknown to Robyn, Glen has a seizure and visits doctor Dylan Keogh at the ED for a head scan. Why doesn’t he tell her the tumour has spread?

"He wants her to be happy. Glen wants to hold out until the wedding’s done. They’ve not had the best of times and Glen doesn’t know how much longer he has left. He wants Robyn to be super happy, even if it’s just for a fleeting moment."

Happily they get married this time, with baby Charlotte and Charlie and Duffy at the wedding!

"Yes, and they’re wholeheartedly in love with each other. Making their little family complete is the aim of the game. No matter what doubts Robyn has, at the end of the day, Glen is the love of her life. She knows she’s never going to find anyone like him."

Sadly, disaster strikes soon afterwards. What can you reveal?

"As a wedding present, Duffy and Charlie offer to look after Charlotte so Robyn and Glen can have a fun, mini honeymoon in a little cottage. Robyn is in full-on excitement mode. In her eyes the wedding has been a success and now they’re happily married. She’s in top form and is focusing on the road as she drives to their destination, so she doesn’t see how Glen is. She thinks he’s just getting emotional about the wedding but then realises he’s having a seizure."

And this scary moment is quickly followed by a devastating car crash?

"Yes, the crash ends up coming as a shock. Nobody expects it. It changes the tone of the episode. Robyn’s at the wheel, at the brunt of the crash…"
