While chatting to Patrick Robinson about his time on Strictly Come Dancing, What’s on TV couldn’t help asking whether he’d ever consider going on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Laughing, Patrick said: “I’m not dissing Celebrity, but I’m not really interested in doing jungle parlour games! I remember seeing an episode, which really made me laugh. Someone had to hold a cockroach in their mouth for as long as possible. And I thought – why would they do that!

“My friends have told me if I did [I’m a Celebrity...] they’d wouldn’t look at me in the same way. Never say never, of course!”

Discussing his return as Ash in Casualty, Patrick said: “I left Casualty in 1996 and returned 17 years later – and in that time a whole generation have grown up and don’t know who this Martin Ashford character is!

“In the Nineties he was a nurse and now he’s a consultant, but he’s still the same man. I love playing him. I was really chuffed to be asked back.”
