Chantelle Houghton 'to marry Alex Reid'
Chantelle Houghton is set to marry Alex Reid after he popped the question to her live on Irish TV on Saturday night. The cage fighter surprised the 28-year-old with the proposal while they were appearing on the Saturday Night Show on RTE One. Having talked on the show about their bid to start a family through IVF treatment, presenter Brendan O'Connor asked Reid repeatedly if he was going to ask Chantelle to marry him. And having initially said he didn't have a ring on him, he joked, "nobody tell anyone" before getting down on one knee and asking "will you marry me?" She accepted his proposal and the couple hugged as the credits rolled. It will be the second marriage for both Chantelle and Alex - both of whom are former winners of Celebrity Big Brother 2011. Chantelle, who was a member of the public posing as a 'fake celebrity' when she entered the house in 2006, went on to win the series and marry Ordinary Boys frontman Preston, who had also been a housemate. However the pair split in November 2007. Alex, who won the 2010 series of the show, ended his 11-month marriage to Katie Price earlier this year.
