Julian Clary crowned Celebrity Big Bro champion
Comedian Julian Clary has been crowned winner of the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother following Friday night's closely fought final. The 53-year-old - who had been the bookies' favourite to take the title - fought off competition from runner-up Coleen Nolan as well as Martin Kemp, who finished in third place despite having rivalled Julian as one of the favourites throughout the series. US reality star Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino came fourth, Olympian Ashley McKenzie finished fifth and former So Solid Crew member MC Harvey was in sixth place. Julian appeared shocked by his win and burst into tears at hearing the news, before asking Coleen to tell producers to cancel the traditional winner's fireworks due to his dislike of them. Afterwards he told Brian Dowling, "I've never won anything in my life. What's my mother going to say?" He added, "It was more emotional than I thought. You don't realise until you come here that your feelings are manipulated by Big Brother. I'm a complete wreck." he also apologised for keeping his usual filthy humour to a minimum, saying, "You have to conserve your strength." Coleen, meanwhile, described her second place as "unbelievable", adding, "I'm so happy to be the last woman here." "Thank you so much to everyone who voted," the TV presenter said, before going on to say that life in the house was "so different" from what she had expected. Martin Kemp, meanwhile, said he had done the show to "show people who I was outside the house - a dad." He added that he had "loved every minute" of his time on the show.
