Anthony Cotton's chat show may not be renewed
Anthony Cotton's ITV chat show is set to be pulled, according to reports. The actor, who plays Sean TullySean Tully in Coronation Street, was expected to host another series of That Anthony Cotton Show, which experienced mixed fortunes in 2007. However, ITV network bosses are apparently so fed up of hit-and-miss teatime chat shows that they're planning to leave the 5pm slot in the hands of other formats such as quiz shows. A friend of the openly gay actor/presenter told The Sun: "Anthony was hoping to do another series with the show slightly tweaked. "But ITV don't want that now. He's still going to do other things aside from Corrie - there's a quiz show idea on the table." Anthony beat Richard and Judy in the ratings with his first show in August 2007, but progressively lost viewers and was panned by critics. But 2007 was a good year for the 32-year-old actor: he won the second series of Soapstar Superstar and was named Best Actor at the British Soap Awards.
