Coronation St star Kevin Kennedy heads to West End
Former Coronation Street actor Kevin Kennedy has been signed up to appear in West End musical hit We Will Rock You. The actor, known for two decades as the Street's Curly Watts, will join the cast of the Queen musical next month. Kevin, 48, will play the hippyish librarian Pop, a role he has already mastered during a run of the show that has toured across the country. The star played Curly from 1983 to 2003, appearing in more than 330 episodes, and is soon to be seen in a DVD Street spin-off. We Will Rock You - which he joins on September 6 - was written by Ben Elton and has enjoyed a stellar, decade-long run in theatres. A number of other actors are returning to the show at London's Dominion Theatre, including stage star Ricardo Afonso, as Galileo, and former EastEnders actress Sarah French, as Scaramouche. Kevin has showcased his musical aspirations in the past by leading his own band, Bunch Of Thieves, and later landing a deal under his own name.
