Coronation Street: Becky in Barbados spin-off? Yes, please, says Jack P Shepherd
Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd has admitted he would like to do a Becky McDonald spin-off in Barbados.
Jack recently had a break from the ITV soap, while his character David Platt and wife Kylie took kids Lily and Max to visit Kylie’s sister Becky in Barbados.
“I can’t believe we didn’t do a Becky in Barbados spin-off!,” says Jack.
And Katherine Kelly, who played Becky, even tweeted her opinion to Paula Lane, who plays Kylie, saying: "I hear Kylie's off to see Bex in Barbados. How come our characters get better holidays than us? ;-) x"
Katherine added: "Mind you, a holiday in Barbados would be wasted on us right now!!" - referring to her new role as mother to 20-week-old daughter, Orla, and Paula's first pregnancy (her baby is due at Christmas).
“The production team even told Paula and I to go on holiday while David and Kylie were away, so we’d come back with a tan - but they didn’t send us to Barbados. I think it’s a disgrace!”
So, did he go on holiday?

“I did manage to squeeze in a family holiday to Paphos in Cyprus while I was off - and that was absolutely lovely,” says Jack, who has two children, Nyla and Reuben, with partner Lauren Shippey.
It would not be the first time Coronation Street has followed a character out of Weatherfield for a spin-off special.
In 2008 the Battersby-Brown family featured in Coronation Street: Out Of Africa, a DVD comedy special set in South Africa.
But a Barbados spin-off? We’re not sure how entertaining it would have been. David and Kylie are about to return to Weatherfield (Friday, August 1) and declare that their holiday was a nightmare because of Max.
“They've had the holiday from hell,” Jack reveals. “David wishes they’d never gone, and they’re all more stressed than before they left.”
And about to become even more stressed when Max is diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)…
Coronation Street, ITV, Monday, July 28, 7.30pm & 8.30pm.
