Coronation Street star to leave this summer
We've hardly had the chance to get to know Underworld boss Paul Connor in Coronation Street, and now it seems we're not likely to. Actor Sean Gallagher, who plays the factory owner, is quitting the show after just five months. In an interview with The News of The World, he said: "Working on Corrie was everything I hoped for and more. But I like variety and I'm looking forward to taking on some new roles." Coronation Street Coronation Street executive producer Steve Frost confirmed the bombshell, saying Sean would be leaving at the end of his current contract. The actor made the decision after a heart-to-heart with the soap boss. It's rumoured Paul will meet his maker in a dramatic summer storyline. Frost also hinted his death would see the Connor clan at the forefront of the show throughout the rest of the year. Of course, the manner of the character's exit is still a closely guarded secret. Sean made his first appearance in Weatherfield in July last year. His character is the brother of Michelle Connor, who is played by former Hear'Say singer Kym Ryder.
