Is Coronation Street's Catherine Tydlesley set to be the new Suranne Jones?
After seven years playing Corrie's Eve Price, Catherine Tydlesley is back on the auditions circuit
We grew to love her as Coronation Street's Eva Price, but now Catherine Tydlesley is back to work as a jobbing actress, looking for her next big role.
After seven years on the ITV show, Catherine (who's still on screen as Eva) made the decision to leave in quest for something new. Now it's been revealed that she's looking to land a big drama series, following in the footsteps of her fellow Corrie-colleagues like Suranne Jones, Sarah Lancashire and Michelle Keegan.
A source told The Sun: "Cath has made no secret of the fact she wants to spread her wings a bit more.
"She loves Corrie and playing Eva but it was time to get back out there as a jobbing actress.
"She's started reading scripts and auditioning for new drama roles and it's a really exciting time for her."
After leaving the Cobbles fellow-actress Suranne Jones has had a long and successful career since, winning a BAFTA for her work on Doctor Foster.

Likewise, Sarah Lancashire, who shot to fame on Corrie in the 90s, has gone on to win BAFTAs for her work on Last Tango in Halifax and Happy Valley.
Michelle Keegan - who is married to TOWIE's Mark Wright - has also gone on to make millions and appear in high profile shows like Our Girl since leaving her role as Tina McIntyre in 2014.
So, as one of the nation's favourite soap ladies, we're sure Catherine is destined for big things too.
Speaking about her decision to leave the long-running soap, the 34-year-old said: "Coronation Street has been a dream job for me which is why this was such a difficult decision to leave."
She added that she wouldn't close the door on returning to the show as Eva in the future and it's believed the door will be left open for her comeback.
She added: "Eva has been such fun to play over the last seven years, and who knows, one day she might storm the cobbles of Weatherfield again.
"In the meantime I’m excited about the future, new acting projects, and spending time with my family."
