Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine has said she is glad never to have played an evil character in the soap.
Jennie, who plays long-time Coronation Street resident Fiz Stape, is happy to have a part that the nation loves.
She said: "I feel very, very lucky to have played a good character who is nice. Sometimes Fiz has done bad or stupid things, but luckily viewers have always been on my side which is a good thing, because I can't imagine going out and people having a go at me - I couldn't do it."
Fiz has recently been reunited with childhood sweetheart Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), drawing comparisons from some viewers with Jack and Vera Duckworth.
Jennie, 29, said: "The comparison has been made but I would never dream of making that comparison myself because they go down in Coronation Street history as absolute legends and it's an honour to be compared to them.
"They are totally irreplaceable and I don't think they could be replaced. It's nice that Tyrone carries on the tradition of living in their house for the time being, and he talks about them often and so do the rest of the cast."
Jennie also said the domestic violence storyline between Tyrone and Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede) in Coronation Street had a big knock-on effect in raising awareness about male victims.
She said: "The writers did an incredible amount of research, they spoke to Mankind and I also know Mankind's helpline calls went up considerably in the weeks the Tyrone stuff went out which is incredible. These things really do make a difference to people.
"When you've experienced something in Coronation Street you wouldn't automatically think that would translate to calls going up on a helpline but it really does, I've heard about it before when characters have been going through illnesses or issues. Coronation Street stories can really help people."
