Ed Sheeran gets snug in the Rovers Return

Ed Sheeran has rocked out the Rovers Return with a live gig on the Coronation Street set.

The chart-topping musician treated Coronation Street stars old and new to a performance to celebrate Manchester radio station Key 103's 40th anniversary.

Soap stars including Brooke Vincent, Jennie McAlpine, Katie McGlynn and Tina O'Brien posed for pictures with Ed on the set of the Rovers Return pub, before he performed in Carla Connor's living room at Granada Studios, the old Coronation Street set which is now open to the public.

Ed performed a 40-minute set while cast members watched from Gail Platt's living room.

Jennie, who plays Fiz Stape, tweeted afterwards: "Wonderfully strange to be back at our old @itvcorrie home tonight. Left a note. #nostalgia."
