Ex-Coronation Street actor to face charges?
Former Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt could face criminal charges after being caught shoplifting from a supermarket in New Zealand. Adam, currently starring in the long-running New Zealand soap Shortland Street, admitted shoplifting a piece of cheese, a bottle of HP Sauce and a jar of coffee - but says it was an "honest mistake". Adam told a newspaper that he was "so stressed out" he failed to pay at a Pak'nSave supermarket in Auckland. The actor, who played Nick Tilsey in the hit ITV1 soap, is now expected to appear in court and face charges over the incident. Adam plays a serial murder suspect and bar owner in Shortland Street, which is filmed close to the supermarket. He told the Herald on Sunday newspaper: "I have recently found out some very upsetting family news. "I was feeling helpless to deal with it because of the distance. "I was so stressed out that without realising, or thinking, during my weekly shop of $200, I failed to pay at the checkout for a jar of coffee, bottle of HP sauce and cheese." He added: "It was an honest mistake and I'm so sorry for any inconvenience that it has caused."
