Is Jim McDonald heading back to Corrie? Find out the latest…
The Cobbles boss Kate Oates just dropped a major hint...
Former Coronation Street fireball and boozer Jim McDonald could be making a return to Weatherfield very soon after the show's boss, Kate Oates, dropped a major hint about a well loved character returning to the Cobbles this autumn.
Kate said: “We are having a discussion about bringing someone back. It’s a very well-established character...a long-standing name.
“It wouldn’t be for a long period. It would be a short stint. I can’t say more than that at this stage. But fans should watch this space.”
Bookmaker Paddy Power has got bad-boy Jim, played by Charlie Lawson, as the hot favourite, at odds of 1/7.
Others in the running are Les Battersby or Jason Grimshaw.
As viewers of the soap know, Jim is currently doing time in prison for an armed robbery. He last featured in 2014, where he ran an illegal booze trade - something that almost killed alcoholic Peter Barlow.

However, his time in prison may nearly be up, just in time for Jim to head back to the cobbles to support his son Steve played by Simon Gregson.
Charlie has teased a potential comeback two-years ago, saying: "I speak to Simon [Gregson] every fortnight or every week in fact, and he always lets me know what’s going on and I believe there’s the possibility of something happening sort of over the winter time.”
He also added that he wants Jim to be involved in something HUGE if he returned.
"You don't bring Jim back just to have a pint in the Rovers. There's always something big."
Wow - this could be very exciting indeed.
A spokesperson told the Daily Star: “It seems very likely Jim will come back at some point. And there’s a strong chance Jason will return.”
Since becoming Corrie’s top boss, Kate has brought back a string of old characters. She convinced Alison King to return as Carla Connor and Georgia Taylor to reprise her role as Toyah Battersby.
So will Jim (Charlie) be next?
