Holly isn’t Jason’s baby after all! But will he give her up? Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas reveals all... Jason's about to get a shock even bigger than the one when he found out he was a dad. He’s about to find out he’s NOT a dad! The bombshell is that dead Charlie Stubbs is really Holly’s dad! "Holly’s mum Emma sees a picture of Charlie in the papers in connection with Tracy’s trial and recognises him as the man who got her pregnant. It turns out Charlie gave his name as Jason Grimshaw to cover his tracks and now Emma is very confused. She thinks Jason is dead and comes back for her baby." And that’s when things get even more confusing. When Eileen realises what Emma is saying she refuses to hand over baby Holly. And she doesn’t tell Jason for two days. "Jason knew that Charlie used false names with girls but never suspected he used his name, too. That’s a shock, but not half as much a shock as discovering that Holly’s Charlie’s daughter and not his. It hurts because he’s genuinely become attached to the baby. He’d come to regard himself as her daddy and now he’s not." Well not as far as he and Emma are concerned, but his mum’s still not having it. "She wants Jason to have a DNA test. She tries to convince herself – and Jason – that Emma’s just trying to wheedle money out of Charlie’s estate. But Jason instinctively knows Holly isn’t his. He refuses to have a DNA test. There’s no point. He doesn’t want to give Holly up, but he doesn’t want to keep her if she’s not his – and she isn’t. He totally believes Holly should be brought up by her real family. That giving her back to Emma is the right thing to do." But if he’s grown to love her how can he give her up so easily? "Once he knows Holly is Charlie’s daughter, his feelings towards her begin to change. He can’t look at her without seeing Charlie. Eileen is determined that Holly’s still a Grimshaw but as far as Jason’s concerned, she’s not." So does he manage to persuade Eileen not to fight Emma for custody of Holly and hand her back as Emma wants? "He tells his mum that she’s only thinking of herself – as she has done all along. She forced Jason into keeping Holly and now she still wants to cling on even though she knows Holly is nothing to do with them. But she won’t listen to reason so he tells her she has to choose. Either Holly goes or he does." And how does he feel when she chooses Holly! "He’s gutted as you would be in his position. He moves in with Sarah saying he’ll only return once Holly is back with her mum. But as far as Eileen’s concerned that’s not going to happen. She says parenthood’s more about love than DNA and Jason doesn’t know what to do next." No, but we can reveal Eileen does...
