Johnny Briggs joins new ITV 'soap'
Former Coronation Street star Johnny Briggs and The Full Monty star Hugo Speer are to join the cast of short-run ITV soap Echo Beach. They will join Jason Donovan and Martine McCutcheon for Echo Beach and the innovative behind-the-scenes comedy Moving Wallpaper. In Echo Beach, Speer will play Mark Penwarden, who will stop at nothing to run his wife Susan's (McCutcheon) ex-lover Daniel Marrack (Donovan) out of their town while Briggs will play long-term resident Fin Morgan. Other new names for the soap - which is set in in the fictional town of Polnarren in Cornwall - include Ed Speelers, Marcus Patrick, Laura Greenwood, Jonathan Readwin and Naomi Ryan. Running alongside Echo Beach will be Moving Wallpaper - where Ben Miller will star as a hapless producer desperate to make the show a success. New names for this show include Raquel Cassidy, James Lance, Sarah Hadland, Elizabeth Berrington, Lucy Liemann, Dave Lamb and Sinead Keenan. Susie Amy will appear in both shows. Both shows have been created by Tony Jordan, lead writer and story consultant for EastEnders, co-creator of Life On Mars and creator of Hustle.
