Street star Bradley to play Arfur?
Former Coronation Street actor Bradley Walsh is rumoured to be on board for a revamped version of classic series Minder. He is thought to be playing a character similar to that of Arthur Daley, a role that made George Cole a household name. A source told The Sun: "This show is all about bringing some of that magic back for a modern audience. Bradley's really excited about it." The actor, who is currently on sabbatical from the ITV1 soap, may even be called upon to sing the evergreen theme tune. Bradley, who has been in the entertainment industry for decades, broke into television in the 1990s, presenting a series of game shows. He turned to acting and gained roles in projects such as Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and Mike Bassett: England Manager. But he became a household name in 2004 when he took on the role of Danny Baldwin in the long-running ITV1 soap. His character left the show under a cloud, after discovering his wife Frankie (Debra Stephenson) had been sleeping with his son Jamie (Rupert Hill). He was temporarily written out of Coronation Street in 2006, allowing him to concentrate on other projects. The new version of Minder is set to air in the autumn.
