Coronation Street’s Sue Nicholls: Audrey might get a tattoo!
Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey, reveals she once thought about having a tattoo herself
Coronation Street star Sue Nicholls, aka Audrey Roberts, was stunned to see what was on offer in what has been dubbed "wider Weatherfield" as she cut the ribbon on the show's new set.
“I didn’t realise there’s a tattoo parlour. It’s amazing, I might go!” laughed Coronation Street legend Sue, 74. “Audrey might get one, it depends who they cast as a tattooist. If he is a dish she would probably have quite a lot!”

In her personal life, Sue says in all honesty that tattoos are no longer on her agenda.
Said Sue: “Years ago before everybody seemed to be having them, I thought if I had one I would have a little tiny forget-me-not on my ankle, a bit like Cher or something. I don’t know who I thought I was!
“But, sometimes when you get ‘older’ it doesn’t look as pretty as it did when you had it done. It’s bad enough with all the other things that come up on your body without having to meander round a rather fading forget-me-not!”

On set, the passing of time has been a pleasure for Sue who revealed she’s loving being the matriarch of the currently troubled Platt family.
“I’ve enjoyed becoming the ‘older Audrey’. I like the fact that, like a lot of elderly grandmas, she’s the one that can tell everyone to stop it – and is also the one who puts up with their rudeness, like with David [Audrey’s grandson], which is divine. She shouts at him but she loves him,” said Sue.
“In my real life I don’t have children, my husband does but I don’t have the experience of that, so that’s why I enjoy this bit. I have my onset family. It’s lovely.”
