Coronation Street’s Faye Brookes confirms details of Kate Connor's exit
Faye Brookes will bid farewell to the cobbles this autumn.
Faye, who has played Kate Connor in Coronation Street since 2015, told The Sun Online that she would be leaving the soap in September.
And she revealed that her exit would be a ‘positive’ one, to offset all the ‘grief and sadness’ her character has gone through following the heartbreaking moment when her fiancee Rana was killed on their wedding day earlier this year.
‘I’m really grateful for the ending Corrie have given me because it’s a positive one rather than grief and sadness, which Kate’s felt a lot of,’ Faye confessed.
Faye admitted she wanted to ‘go out on a high’ after the Rana storyline, which she felt would be ‘really difficult to match’.
‘It’s the end of my contract,’ she explained. ‘It’s coming to an end.’
But there’s still a chance we could see her back on our screens. ‘I’m really grateful to Corrie to leave it open ended because it means I could come back,’ she said. ‘But I might go on to do more television.’

She even hinted that she might go back to her musical theatre roots. ‘I miss live musical theatre,’ she admitted. ‘I miss singing, I miss dancing. I really am excited about what could come next.’
Faye also revealed that she and Bhavna Limbachia, who played Rana in the soap, had chosen the ending for their storyline.
‘I’m really excited for Bhavna as well for the same reasons,’ she said. ‘It was a natural progression for her and it made sense that the characters couldn’t be together so we chose the ending.’
Rana recently returned to the soap as a ghost for a cameo experience. ‘I loved spending the day with Bhavna in her red coat,’ Faye admitted. ‘Whatever’s next for her I wish her all the love and luck.’
Coronation Street continues on ITV.
