Ashley Banjo hints at Dancing on Ice 2019 return

The former Britain's Got Talent star is hopeful to return to the hit show

Ashley Banjo has revealed he hopes to return as a judge for Dancing on Ice in 2019.

The Diversity dancer - who shot to fame with the dance troupe after they won Britain's Got Talent in 2009 - was hired as a judge for the show's re-boot earlier this year.

And, although some claimed he wasn't "qualified" for the role, Ashley proved a hit with viewers - and has hinted that he could be back for another series.

Speaking abut his possible return to Zoe Ball, he said: "I hope so, put it that way... it's looking pretty good.

"I love doing the show, it's so much fun, but until you... I haven't signed on the dotted line yet."

While Olympic ice-skaters Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean have the credentials to judge the celebrities on their ice-skating skills, some viewers felt Ashley lacked experience.

Defending his place on the show earlier this year, Ashley explained that a lot of the celebrities' performance comes down to "entertainment" value - something he knows a lot about.

"The thing about the British public is they're not going to be voting for the best ice skater but someone who is entertaining," he explained.

Dancing On Ice champion Jake Quickenden to sing on show’s tour

After five years off our TV screens, the Dancing on Ice reboot - hosted by Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby and won by Jake Quickenden - proved a huge success.

So much so that the prospect of another series in 2019 was described as a "no brainer" by ITV bosses.

Head of entertainment commissioning at the channel, Siobhan Greene, said: “The show's welcome back has exceeded our expectations and it's been fantastic to see the audience at home loving it.

“The recommission is a no-brainer and it's brilliant for everyone involved to know it'll be back next year.”
