Dancing On Ice may be spared from the chop, following reports that producers are considering changing their mind about axing the show.
ITV chief Peter Fincham announced three months ago that DOI would come to an end for good following one final series in early 2014 - while Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean also announced it would be the last series they would do.
However the Sunday Mirror has now reported that channel bosses are beginning to reconsider, amid fears they will be left with a 'whacking great hole in their schedules' when the show finally hangs up its skates for good.
"Initially producers thought the show was past its best and when Jayne and Christopher announced they were leaving they decided to end the programme altogether," an insider told the paper.
“But when the dust settled many at ITV have started to question the wisdom of axing the show. It still pulled in nearly seven million during the last series which is a great number."
The source added: "One major hurdle will be how to replace Torvill and Dean who are hugely popular with viewers but producers think the format can be tweaked to make it work without them."
The insider also hinted that the show's future may depend on the popularity of an 'all-star' series featuring past winners and popular contestants.
That series will reportedly also feature a 'nail-biting' twist.
Gymnast Beth Tweddle won the most recent series of the show earlier this year - with the final still attracting an audience of 6.7m.
