Dancing On Ice: Samantha hangs up skates
Samantha Mumba has become the latest casualty of Dancing On Ice, after finding herself in the bottom two for the second time. The Irish singer, who narrowly escaped elimination in the first week of the series, found herself in the bottom two once again along with javelin champion Steve Backley. After they both reprised their routines - Samantha skating to You Can't Hurry Love, and Steve to Mony Mony - the panel voted unanimously to save Steve. However, the judges admitted that the decision was a tough one. "One of our celebs showed more courage and character, and he gave 150 per cent," Nicky Slater said of his decision. Samantha said afterwards she had had "an absolute ball" on the show. "I've really really enjoyed it," she told Philip Schofield. "It's been amazing, I can't speak highly enough of it." Earlier in the show, GMTV presenter Michael Underwood - who has had to withdraw from the competition after breaking his ankle - appeared on crutches to explain what had happened. "It was so stupid," he said, "I had to stop quickly to change directions, I went for it and didn't have my foot in the right position and I fell." "I had such a good time doing this show, I don't want people to just remember this - know what I mean?" he added, clearly overcome with emotion. Underwood has been replaced on the ice by Coronation Street star Zaraah Abrahams, who made her debut on Sunday night. Nine couples now remain.
