Dancing On Ice: Sharron skates off!
Sharron Davies has become the latest casualty of Dancing On Ice after losing out to actress Emily Atack in the skate-off. The Olympic swimmer had been in the bottom two twice before and had been saved by the judges both times - but her luck finally ran out when she found herself up against the Inbetweeners star. After both couples had reprised their routines, the judges voted unanimously to save Atack - making Davies the seventh celebrity to be eliminated so far this series. "One of those performances would have looked fine on MTV, and that's the one I'm going to save," Nicky Slater said before casting his vote. And guest judge Angela Rippon agreed. "This isn't just Skating On Ice, this is Dancing On Ice," she said, "So I'm going to save Emily." Afterwards Davies paid tribute to her skating partner Pavel Aubrecht as well as her fellow competitors. "I've had the best partner I could ever wish for," she said, "he's just been fantastic. But most of all I really enjoyed these guys here, they're great skaters but they're fantastic people, the atmosphere backstage is just amazing." And the 47-year-old added that she wouldn't be quitting the rink for good. "I shall not be hanging up my skates," she said, "I shall be going down to Swindon ice rink and continuing my skating." Earlier in the show Davies had finished bottom of the judges' scoreboard with 16 points for her routine to Stay by Shakespear's Sister. Davies had chosen to perform to that song after rejecting Christopher Dean's original choice of music, the 60s hit I Want Candy. Seven celebrities now remain in the competition, including Gary Lucy, Mikey Graham, Kieron Richardson, Danny Young and Danniella Westbrook. Emmerdale's Hayley Tamaddon is the favourite to win the series.
