When is Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2021?
The Black Friday / Cyber Monday 2021 weekend starts on Friday, 26 November and runs through until Monday 29 November. It is always the weekend after Thanksgiving in the US.
But these days "Black Friday" is a month-long affair starting mid-November and running through Thanksgiving and beyond.
Retailers like Currys and Argos (in the UK) and Walmart and Best Buy (in the US) have sales and daily deals all the way through the month of November so it's worth keeping a lookout on anything you're interested in — just in case there's a special offer.
Cyber Monday shopping tips
- Be aware of scams: big online shopping events like Black Friday can attract scammers, so make sure you shop from official sites (check the domain) and if you get emailed Cyber Monday deals, check the sender is reputable before clicking any links.
- Avoid refurbished products: while refurbished goods are often a good way to get the item you want for less, during sales periods they're not always the best value. Also, be sure you're not buying a refurbished item when you think you're buying something new.
- Consider stock shortages: there are so many issues around delivery delays and lack of stock hitting retailers this year that we'd suggest starting your holiday shopping as soon as you see the item you want, at a price you think is good value. Of course, if time isn't an issue then it's worth weighing up whether you really want to hold on in the hopes of an even better deal.
