David Tennant would be the dream headteacher for primary school children, a survey has found. The Doctor Who star topped a poll of children's dream headteachers, seeing off competition from US President Barack Obama, Harry Potter author JK Rowling and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole. Steve Munby- chief executive of the National College for the Leadership of Schools and Children's Services (NCSL), which carried out the poll - said: "I'm not surprised to see David Tennant at the top of the list alongside positive feedback about their own heads who are obviously role models in their own right." Asked the reasons for their choice, almost half (47 per cent) of the nine to 11-year-olds polled said it was because their chosen celebrity was "fun". A third (33 per cent) said they had picked "someone they could look up to", while the same proportion cited the celebrity's popularity as a reason. More than a quarter (27 per cent) picked someone for their intelligence. The children were given a list of celebrities to choose from, with 26 per cent picking Tennant. President Obama, Cole, and Rowling each received 9 per cent of the vote. Around one in eight (12 per cent) said they would pick none of those on the list as their dream choice.
