Doctor Who's 50th anniversary episode has drawn in record numbers of viewers for BBC America.
The Day Of The Doctor, which starred current Time Lord Matt Smith and his predecessor David Tennant, attracted 2.4 million viewers despite being shown mid Saturday afternoon in the US, according to Variety.
Figures later went up to 3.6 million after it was given another showing in the evening. In the UK, 10.2 million people watched the episode.
On the day it was shown, BBC was the number one cable network on Twitter in the US and it got the highest ever level of Tumblr activity for a televised event, even beating Super Bowls.
Meanwhile, writer Steven Moffat has said it was always the plan for Peter Capaldi, who will play the next Doctor, to make a cameo in the episode.
According to Metro, he said: "It was the plan from the start - all the Doctors... all the Doctors will fly in to save Gallifrey and change the timeline.
"That meant we should have the new one. I knew there was going to be a new one, so I wrote it not knowing who would be doing that [scene].
"We did manage to cast somebody where you can use less than half his face, for less than a second and everybody knows who it is. It's just another treat - I was just trying to throw treats at the screen."
