With brain-swapping aliens poised to attack, the Doctor and Nardole link up with an investigative reporter and a mysterious figure known only as The Ghost. Can the Doctor save Manhattan? And what will be revealed when we see behind the mask?
The New York superhero, aka Grant, will be played by Justin Chatwin - best known for the US series Orphan Black and the blockbuster film War of the World, alongside Tom Cruise.
“Working with the amazing people at Doctor Who has been one of the most fun and rewarding projects I’ve ever had the pleasure of being involved with,” reveals American star Justin.
Matt Lucas also returns as Nardole – the character he played in last year’s Christmas special.
Doctor Who Christmas Special: The Return of Doctor Mysterio airs on BBC One on Christmas Day at 5.45pm.
