The 2015 Emmy nominations have been announced, with Game Of Thrones receiving a whopping 24 nods and strong showings from TV favourites such as American Horror Story, House Of Cards and Mad Men.
The Brits are represented by Downton Abbey, which received eight nominations, including best drama series, best supporting actress in a drama series for Joanne Froggatt and best supporting actor in a drama series for Jim Carter.

Jim Carter, who plays butler Mr Carson in Lord Julian Fellowes’ ITV period drama, said: “Naturally I’m thrilled and delighted to be nominated again alongside Joanne Froggatt and that our eight nominations are a recognition of the wonderful work the whole team have put in to making the show.”
Downton’s producer Gareth Neame said: “We’re very proud of the most recent season of Downton Abbey and are so appreciative that the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has chosen to honour the Downton team in this way.
“On behalf of all those who bring to life the saga of the Crawley family and those who serve them, thank you for recognising our show for a fifth consecutive season.”

BBC Two political spy thriller The Honourable Woman, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, received four nominations, including best actress in a limited series or movie for the actress, outstanding limited series and outstanding writing and directing for Hugo Blick.
Hugo, also wrote and produced The Shadow Line and Sensitive Skin for the BBC, said: “Will definitely be putting two lumps of sugar in my cocoa this evening.”
Executive producer Greg Brenman added: “We could not be more thrilled and honoured that The Honourable Woman has been so broadly recognised by the 2015 Emmy Awards. I’m absolutely delighted that Hugo Blick’s writing and his direction have been nominated – a resounding testament to his vision and to the enormous accomplishment of this series.”
Ricky Gervais, who was nominated for lead actor in a limited series or movie in Derek, immediately poured himself a glass of booze.

He also said: “It will be an honour to lose to someone other than Jim Parsons for a change.”
Alan Cumming, who received a nod for supporting actor in a drama series for The Good Wife, also tweeted his reaction.

BBC One’s The Missing, which stars James Nesbitt and Frances O’Connor as the parents of a missing boy, received two nominations for director Tom Shankland and score composer Dominik Scherrer.
Tom said: “What an unbelievably thrilling moment! To be nominated for such a prestigious award in the company of such fantastic directors is amazing.

The Missing’s executive producer Willow Grylls added: “Tom broke new ground in directing all eight episodes of The Missing over two time frames – an incredible feat that brought the best out of our brilliant cast. His visual flair was underpinned by a score from Dominik that created real tension and foreboding – it’s a series that broke new ground and of which we are all incredibly proud.”
BBC shows received 15 nominations, and director of BBC Television Danny Cohen expressed his excitement on Twitter.

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, who was nominated in the best comedy actress category for her work on the HBO series Veep, joked she doesn’t have time to watch television in a statement as her character, President Selina Meyer.
“As President, my staff and I are too busy doing the people’s business to watch television,” she said. “Nonetheless, we are thrilled to be a part of this celebration of creativity. (Go Jon Hamm!)”
Veep, created by Armando Iannucci, snagged nine nominations while the seventh series of Mad Men received 11 nominations for its final season.
As soon as the Emmy nominations were announced, a love-fest erupted on Twitter between first-time nominees Amy Schumer and Tatiana Maslany.
