Lily James has confirmed that she will be starring in the BBC's upcoming adaptation of War And Peace.
The Downton Abbey star is best known for her role as Lady Rose MacClare in the ITV drama, but has revealed that the rumours of her taking on a leading part in the TV version of the classic Leo Tolstoy novel are true.
She told Radio Times: "Yes, I'm doing War And Peace."
Pride And Prejudice and House Of Cards screenwriter Andrew Davies has written the script and the six-part series of the 1869 epic novel is being made by the BBC in association with the Weinstein Company and set to screen in 2015.
It tells the story of the effect of Napoleon's invasion of Russia on five aristocratic families during Alexander I's reign. The series is also rumoured to be starring There Will Be Blood's Paul Dano as Pierre, Lily's character Natasha's love interest.
Aside from War And Peace, Lily can also be seen in the upcoming Kenneth Branagh film version of Cinderella, where she stars alongside Downton co-star Sophie McShera, who is best known as kitchen maid Daisy.
Lily said of Sophie's role as one of Cinderella's wicked step-sisters: "I can't wait for you to see her in it. She looks phenomenal, she's got the best costumes ever - make-up, lashes, hair, ornaments, jewellery - it's the opposite of Daisy and she's just amazing in it. People are going to go wild."
