Downton's Jim Carter: 'No plans for Hollywood'
Downton Abbey star Jim Carter has said he has no plans to join any of his co-stars working in America. The 64-year-old actor - who is married to Harry Potter star Imelda Staunton - said while the other stars of the hit ITV drama are taking the opportunity to find work in Hollywood and on Broadway, he is happy to stay at home in the UK these days. Jim said: "I've done that. I need my garden and the cricket pitch. I can't be going to America, I've done that in my wild youth. No thanks." The actor - who plays butler Carson - is going to America to attend the Emmy Awards later this month, where Downton Abbey has racked up an impressive 16 nominations. He said: "I'm going out to LA so that will be jolly. The show's nominated for 16 which is fantastic, just shows how popular it is all over the world really." Speaking about the show's popularity in the US, Jim said: "They've got excellent taste I suppose, impeccable taste it shows. "They've gone mad for it, I gather. I've not been to America since it has been on, but I gather they're crazy for it, so I'll go and experience that first hand."
