EastEnders' special hour-long episode was watched by nearly 12 million viewers on Thursday night. The dramatic episode - which centred on Peggy and Archie's wedding and ended with the death of troubled teenager Danielle Jones - pulled in 10.6 million viewers and a 48 per cent audience share at 7.30pm, according to unofficial overnight figures. A further 1.2 million watched the later repeat on BBC3 at 10pm. EastEnders' high-rating episode provided a solid base for the launch of the ninth series of My Family, which attracted 6.8 million viewers when it followed on BBC1 at 8.30pm. And there was good news for Channel 4's sister channel E4 as the second series of The Inbetweeners launched with nearly one million viewers. The saucy sitcom, about a group of teenage boys, pulled in 958,000 viewers and a multichannel share of 5.5 per cent between 10pm and 10.35pm.
