EastEnders' Adam signs massive pay deal
EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt has reportedly signed a new contract thought to be worth a whopping £320,000. The star, who plays businessman Ian Beale, is the only original character from the BBC soap's inception in 1985. A source told the Daily Mirror: "Adam is the last man standing from the starting line-up and there's always the possibility that he might go and do something else after 22 years in Albert Square. "However, he's got some brilliant storylines coming up and he's decided now is not the time for departure. Everyone is thrilled he's staying." The 38-year-old has been filming dramatic scenes at Pinewood Studios, which see his car plunge into a lake. Ian, Phil (Steve McFadden) and Billy (Perry Fenwick) escape - but Ian's 13-year-old twins Peter (Thomas Law) and Lucy (Melissa Suffield) get trapped inside. During his time on the show, Adam has chalked up a staggering 2000 episodes and has enjoyed his fair share of gripping storylines, including almost being killed when his ex-wife Cindy hired a hitman to knock him off.
