Legendary local GP, Doctor Legg (played by Leonard Fenton) is returning to Albert Square in the autumn. But what brings him back to Walford?
It's been over ten years since we last saw Doctor Harold Legg. But this autumn he'll be back when original EastEnders cast member Leonard Fenton returns to play the kindly medic, who is always on hand to gently break bad news to the residents of Albert Square.
Doctor Legg appeared in the very first episode of the BBC 1 soap back in 1985 and remained as the local doc until he officially retired in 1997. Since then he has returned for some guest appearances, attending Ethel Skinner's funeral in 2000 and Mark Fowler's funeral in 2004.
But despite being offscreen, Doctor Legg has kept in touch with good friend Dot Cotton (played by June Brown) in the years since his departure, and the pensioner is certain to be happy about his return.
"It's been eleven years since Dot last visited her favourite doctor, Doctor Legg, and it's an utter delight to be working with Leonard Fenton again in 2018," says June Brown who plays Dot.
"I am very happy to be back at EastEnders and am looking forward to working with June and the rest of the cast and crew again," adds Leonard.
So what brings Doctor Legg back to the Square after all this time? Details are being kept underwraps but John York, Executive Consultant of EastEnders teases it will be "an exciting and emotional story."
