TV legend Edward Woodward has landed a role in EastEnders. Edward, who starred in 80s US cop show The Equalizer, will play Tommy Clifford - a charming old-timer with a dark side, according to The Sun. Tommy soon makes his presence felt in Walford by asking probing questions about Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker). Edward, 78, has already started filming his scenes in the BBC1 soap and is due to appear on screen next month. He said: "I've watched and enjoyed EastEnders for many years and it has been a joy to work on this great show." EastEnders executive producer Diederick Santer said: "This is a great thrill for all of us. On the surface this character is a warm, charming and engaging man, but there are other much darker things going on too. "I hope the audience are as fascinated watching Edward at work as I have been." Edward found fame with 1960s spy series Callan before becoming a household name as hitman Robert McCall in The Equalizer.
