Lee Ross and Kate Williams will upset the Fox family when they return to EastEnders this summer. Lee, who starred in The Catherine Tate Show, will be reprising his role in the BBC One soap as Libby's estranged father, Owen Turner. Owen was jailed for three years for trying to kill Libby (Belinda Owusu) - but with his sentence almost complete, the violent alcoholic wants to renew contact with Libby and ex-wife Denise (Diane Parish). Kate Williams (Love Thy Neighbour) also returns to Albert Square playing Owen's larger-than-life mother Liz Turner. Liz has been living in Spain but Owen convinces her that she should move to Walford to help him re-establish his relationship with Libby and Denise. The troublesome mother and son duo are due to return to Walford at the end of July. Diederick Santer, EastEnders executive producer, said: "It's very exciting to have Kate and Lee back in the show. "Lee's one of the finest actors of his generation, and the scenes he did with Belinda Owusu and Diane Parish three years ago were electrifying." He added: "I'm looking forward to more! Kate's brief appearances were equally memorable – she's a brilliant comic and dramatic actress, and I'm keen to find out more about the unusual Liz Turner."
