Lucy Benjamin to make EastEnders comeback
Actress Lucy Benjamin is set to return to EastEnders seven years after her original departure, according to the papers. The Sunday Mirror reports that Lucy - who played Lisa Fowler in the soap - is one of several old cast members tipped to be making a comeback. She quit the show in 2003, but always said she would like to return at some point. "I loved Lisa and I loved playing those storylines – all that angst and drama," she said. And a source told the paper that Lucy would be returning sooner rather than later. "She has been in talks with them," the insider said. "Lisa is a great character and we look forward to seeing her back on the Square." Lucy first joined the soap in 1998 and was involved in some memorable storylines, most notably when she was revealed as the person who shot her ex-partner Phil Mitchell in 2001. She was last seen fleeing the country with their baby daughter, Louise, who has recently arrived in Albert Square. Lucy was most recently seen on screen in the 2009 series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, in which she was the first person to be voted out of the jungle.
