Whitney Carter is delighted to see Halfway back from the army. The pair celebrate with the Carters at The Vic - but it soon becomes clear something isn't right. He's been injured and seems not himself. Encouraged by Mick, Whitney goes to see Halfway alone and tries to get close to him, but he pushes her away. What is he hiding?

The pair head to The Vic, where the Carters celebrate the return of the man who saved the pub. But Halfway seems distracted…

Later, when they are alone, Whitney asks Halfway what is wrong.

But despite Whitney's attempts to get him to open up, Halfway is not himself.

Whitney leans in for a kiss, trying to get close to Halfway. But he ultimately rejects her. So she decides to give him some space.
