Emmerdale stars almost struck by lightning!

Emmerdale stars were left stunned when a bolt of lightning struck a tree close to where they were filming. Suzanne Shaw (Eve Jenson), Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle), James Sutton (Ryan Lamb) and James Thornton (John Barton) ran for cover as the freak storm hit on Tuesday, the Daily Star reports. The former Hear'Say star tweeted: "Emmerdale has just been struck by lightning!!! Seriously. Cain, Ryan, Eve and John nearly killed off! Completely serious about lightning. Not part of a storyline! It hit a tree as we stood in the Dingles' garage!" James, who has been using crutches, wrote on Twitter: "Just almost got hit by lightning! All the lights exploded! We all screamed! I threw my crutches on the floor! The whole crew took cover!" Speaking on This Morning about the experience, Suzanne said: "We were indoors so we were probably quite protected. We had a shell around us. But when it hit the lights exploded. We smelt the burning of the lights. My heart was absolutely racing." An Emmerdale spokesman confirmed that lightning did strike, but played down the incident and denied claims the stars were 'blown off their feet'.
