Emmerdale's Charity breaks the Dingle code
Emmerdale's Emma Atkins tells Soaplife how Charity and Cain's love-hate relationship gets out of control when she betrays him to the police... Charity's relationship with Cain reaches a new low after she realises he has nicked off with her new diamond earrings - a gift from Jai - and Jai's car. Charity's had enough and calls the police. "Cain hurt her and now she's hurting him back," explains Emma. But getting him put behind bars could be going too far... So, why is Charity so sure Cain is the thief? "She's been winding him up and just knows he's getting back at her." We've always understood that it's against Dingle code to involve the police... "Charity's reached the end of her tether. She's physically and mentally exhausted by it all. She shocks herself by calling the police and when they turn up, she's terrified - she's grassing up one of her own family. Debbie's furious and tells Charity she'll never forgive her if Cain ends up in jail again." So Charity backs down? "She's already feeling unsure. She could put Cain behind bars, but then there'd be his revenge to deal with. She knows how dangerous Cain can be. But most of all she can't bear the thought of losing Debbie." So she changes her statement? "Yes - even though Jai is adamant that Cain is guilty and should be put away." We have a sneaking suspicion that Charity is still in love with Cain... "They have this obsession with each other, but it's not healthy. They're both addicted to this constant one-upmanship." So, is Charity's future with Jai...or Cain? "She's really enjoying being with Jai, but she just can't shake off Cain. Jai might get fed up with that. Charity's a selfish woman who enjoys having two men fighting over her..."
