Emmerdale's Jackson in assisted suicide storyline
Emmerdale is planning an assisted suicide storyline in which paralysed character Jackson dies, according to reports. The Sun said that Jackson Walsh's mother and his lover will crush a lethal dose of tablets in his drink, in the potentially controversial scenes. Viewers of the ITV1 soap saw Jackson, played by Mark Silcock, 22, injured in a road accident last year. The storyline would see Jackson ask his boyfriend Aaron Livesy (Danny Miller) and his mother Hazel (Pauline Quirke) to end his life, the newspaper reported. An insider was quoted as telling the newspaper: "Jackson will start discussing plans to end his life in the next few weeks... "Throughout the plot, there will be a phone number on screen for a helpline for anyone affected." Alistair Thompson, of the Care Not Killing Alliance, told The Sun: "I hope this is done for the right reason and not to chase ratings." An Emmerdale spokesperson said last night: "We do not confirm or deny speculation about future storylines."
