Emmerdale star and National TV Awards nominee Michael Parr says he's so grateful to just be working and worries he's peaked too soon.
Michael plays Ross Barton and has been involved in some significant plotlines, including his ill-fated romance with Donna Dingle and now the return of his estranged mother Emma. His performance earned him a best newcomer nomination at the NTAs (EastEnders' Maddy Hill won the accolade on the night).
Michael told What's on TV: "I've hit the ground running; in fact, the story that's playing out on screen right now [the return of the Bartons' mother, Emma] is the story that I got told was going to my thing when I first came in. Then I got thrown the Donna storyline. Working with Verity [Rushworth] is what I'm most proud of in my entire career. I'm kinda worried I've peaked too soon and they're going to say that's it for you now and kind of get tucked away.
"I'm just so grateful to be working to be honest. I was a teacher before this, teacher's assistant. Not taking anything away from teachers, but 13 grand in London, it's making ends meet and expensive rent, I'm just happy to be making a little bit more."
