Emmerdale star Mike Parr cast some doubt on his future on the show. He's climbing Mt Everest and he worries he's not going to make it back!

Mike plays bad boy Ross Barton on the ITV soap and was nominated for Best Serial Drama Performance at the National TV Awards.

He told What's on TV on the red carpet: "I'm climbing Everest next October, for a charity from my hometown, for the Steve Prescott Foundation – only to base camp I must say, there's a bit of a difference between the summit! I might not make it, I might not make it back!"

What inspired the climb? "Just for charity really, I went to an awards do and some people told me about the cause and I thought it's a good one. I had a few gin & tonics and I got brave and I signed up for it!"

Watch Mike talk about his charity climb, his NTAs nomination and more about Ross Barton, above.

EastEnders' Danny Dyer won the Best Serial Drama Performance on the night.
