Emmerdale's Natalie: 'Alicia's back - for David!'
Emmerdale's Natalie Anderson talks to Soaplife about Alicia's joyful return to Emmerdale - and how it's tinged with sadness. How does Alicia arrive back in the village? "Oh, it's really lovely and I actually cried for real when I read the script. Alicia turns up at Jacob's nativity... He's the very first person to see her so that's how we see her for the first time - through Jacob's eyes. It's really, really sweet. She's over the moon to see her little boy." And David? "Being away from David has made her miss him even more. She feels very awkward with him and she's trying to fight the feelings she has for him but, in truth, they're getting stronger." But she tells David they should divorce! Why? "Because Pollard suggests that David's kept his part of the bargain, surely it's time for Alicia to keep hers. But David says, 'There's no rush about the divorce. I can see it's upsetting you so let's not worry about it. Let's get through Christmas and have a nice time'. This makes Alicia think, 'Maybe he does have feelings for me! Maybe this will be the fairytale ending I wanted it to be.'" But Alicia's going to find out about David and Priya. Then what? "Alicia truly loves David - he's probably the love of her life and therefore she will see things from his point of view and never want to hurt him. I think she'll react quite differently to how the audience will expect." Is any hope for Alicia and David? "I'd like to think so. I love Matthew [Wolfenden, who plays David] to death so it would be fantastic if there was a romantic ending for Alicia and David."
