Emmerdale's Natalie: 'Moira does the unthinkable'
Emmerdale Natalie J Robb tells Soaplife Moira’s so torn by Holly’s addiction that she buys her drugs! Does Moira really believe locking Holly in her room and forcing her to go cold turkey is the answer to this crisis? "It’s more a case of feeling everything else has failed. Moira wants Holly to go into rehab. But that’s expensive and they just don’t have the money." But is it working? "It’s absolute hell. Holly’s sobbing and screaming and she’s imagining the craziest things – like thinking Moira’s trying to drown her in the bath. It breaks Moira’s heart." Moira panics when she finds Holly covered in blood? What happens? "All Holly can think about is another fix. She’s so desperate she smashes a window trying to escape and cuts her hand. Then she starts self-harming with a rusty nail in the hope Moira will take her to hospital. Moira is horrified when she finds her covered in blood. It’s the final straw." In what way the final straw? "Watching Holly suffer day in day out is tearing her apart. She does the unthinkable. She goes to Hotten to buy some heroin from Dan, the guy Holly was living with. It goes against every moral fibre in Moira’s body but she’s desperate. She figures she’ll try to wean Holly off – bit by bit." How does Holly react when Moira brings her the drugs? "She’s shocked – but not for long. She practically snatches Moira’s hand off. It’s horrible – yet another spiral down as Moira feels like she’s become Holly’s dealer." Isn’t this the worst thing Moira could have done? "Probably. Moira hates herself plus she’s paranoid John will find out. He thinks Holly is on the up and Moira feels guilty knowing it’s only because Holly is taking drugs she got for her." How will John react when he finds out what Moira has done? "He won’t understand why Moira felt she had to do it – but I don’t think she really understands that herself." Now Moira’s started giving Holly drugs is there any way she will be able to stop? "It’s going to get worse and Moira gets more drugs for Holly. We’ve had mail from parents of addicted kids to say this isn’t unusual. Things come to a head when John finds out..." Is Moira scared Holly might die? "Very scared."
