Former Coronation Street star Chris Bisson makes a return to soap next week as Emmerdale's new businessman Jai Sharma. Chris, who played Dev Alahan's cousin Vikram Desai in Corrie from 1999 to 2002, tells Soaplife magazine he's thrilled to be arriving in the Dales. "I'm loving it! I like knowing where I'm going to be every day," he says. The Sharmas, including Jai's brother Nikhil (Rik Makarem) and sister Priya (Effie Woods) will arrive in Emmerdale on Friday, 11 September and are set to open a sweet factory in the village. "Initially I'm contracted for a year but hopefully I'll be around for longer," says Chris about his Emmerdale stint. And despite only just arriving he's settled in with his cast mates already. "I already knew some of the Emmerdale cast when I started filming; Jeff Hordley (Cain), Kelvin Fletcher (Andy), and Lucy Pargeter (Chas) were mates before," says Chris. "Now it's great to be working with them." Click here to watch whatsontv.co.uk’s new weekly soaps video preview, the Soap Scoop
